I have known Katy as both an excellent golfer and a valued member of my Berkshire Junior Girls squad for around 3 years. Katy’s association with Berkshire Girls Golf precedes my introduction to the role as Berkshire’s County Junior Organiser but, during my tenure, I am delighted to have had the opportunity to observe Katy’s golfing development through her regular participation in county competitions, matches and our county coaching and training programmes.

Katy is both a great individual competitor and excellent team mate. She always makes herself available to participate in county matches and team events and is a dedicated and regular attendee at our coaching sessions. She is very well respected by her county and club team- mates and I can confidently rely on her 100% commitment wherever she is participating. These factors, when combined with her fantastic attitude to handling successes and disappointments evenly, made it a very easy decision for me to ask her to be our Junior Vice Captain this year. I am very confident she will be an excellent Junior County Captain in 2026 as she regularly displays the attributes expected for this role.

Katy’s hard work and diligence to her golf has been suitably rewarded over the last year with a number of excellent achievements. As well as achieving a fantastic reduction in her handicap and consistently high placings in the inaugural Berks, Bucks & Oxford Girls Order of Merit, Katy started the golfing year with a fantastic win and score to become the BB&O Girls Champion. This success was achieved in very testing conditions against some of the top golfing talent across the three counties. Her golfing progress in 2024 was further recognised with her successful application to join the prestigious DiSE program delivered via the England Golf Thames Valley Regional Squad.

The fact that Katy made such excellent progress with her golf in a very challenging and demanding academic year, shows that she is very capable of successfully managing both commitments. I have no doubt that Katy would be a welcome addition to any squad as she fits into teams extremely well and is both a fine golfer and fierce competitor. I believe her to be highly committed to both her golfing and academic achievements and feel that she would be an asset to any University able to provide her with an excellent environment to develop her sporting and personal potential.
