I first met Joshua over 4 years ago in my role as the Harrogate District Union Junior Manager for the scratch team, which plays in the Yorkshire Inter District Union league.  

It was obvious that Joshua was a talented sportsman and not just on the golf course. Joshua is always a well mannered, approachable young man who is willing to listen to advice and learn from it, as well as being comfortable offering his respected opinion on golfing and player matters. As such I have decided that he will be my Captain for the 2025 campaign. 

It has been a pleasure watching him progress over the years, he is now taking that onto the national stage here in the UK and having success. He has grown into an accomplished golfer and that tied with his obvious passion for the game, a dedication to improve and an eagerness to learn, makes him a very "coachable" young man. 

As an exceptional junior he was invited into the Yorkshire county coaching system where he has focused on improving all aspects of his game but in particular short game scoring. Josh has sound fundamentals, understands technical information well and is working on some highly skilled shots and developing his game as a whole. 

If I may offer the biggest factor for me personally, I think one of Joshua's significant attributes is his honesty. A trait that allows him freedom to accept the game for what it is. He is tenacious, competitive and a player who will always give 100%. 

He has worked hard to get to where he is with his current handicap mark, and I know he has done this in a proper manner which gives him a competitive edge when it comes to high level competitions. He has shown, on several occasions, the ability to "go low" trusting his hard work ethic, confidence in his ability and the no fear factor that can hinder many players. 

Joshua would be a welcome addition to any golf programme, he is a fantastic team member, who is calm, level headed and able to rise to a challenge. The manner in which he has competed to date will allow him to make the next step up and beyond, and I believe the collegiate system in the US is the right platform for him, his golf and his excellent academic ability. I fully expect his handicap to lower and him to challenge in county and national events in 2025 and 2026. 

In summary, I find Joshua to be a first rate young man who has the maturity and the intelligence to make this next step up. It has been a pleasure to follow Joshua and his progress, and I very much look forward to the next couple of seasons whilst he is still in the junior ranks. From this experience I feel he would be an asset to any squad/college/team and I highly recommend him to you.
